Student Threatened Shooting At Palmetto Middle School: MCSO
A student at a Palmetto middle school was charged with a felony after threatening to shoot up a classroom, Manatee County sheriff said.
PALMETTO, FL — A middle school student faces charges after posting a TikTok video about shooting up a classroom, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office news release.
A tip about the video was sent via the FortifyFL app Wednesday around 9:30 a.m.
In the video, the student simulated shots being fired in a classroom with a toy gun, MCSO said.

The student, who attends Buffalo Creek Middle School in Palmetto, was identified and found at the school, where he admitted to school resource deputies to making the social media post, the sheriff’s office said.
The student was charged with making written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury or conduct a mass shooting, a second-degree felony.

The arrest came after Parrish Community High School was evacuated Tuesday following a week of ongoing threats at the school.
The middle school student isn’t connected with these recent school threats, the sheriff’s office said.
