Successful proms start behind the scenes

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The 2018 prom is not all fun and games; a lot of work is put into it to make the Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) prom what it is. Junior Advisory Board (JAB) started this project in the middle of the first quarter. This event has taken a lot of time and dedication from Mustangs.
LRHS’ prom is scheduled for 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Friday night at the Sarasota Hyatt.

To tackle this huge project, JAB split into many different committees. One committee was ballroom and was run by JAB president Dynver Bogan.

“We oversaw collecting the decorations and had a huge responsibility of collaborating with the Lobby committee,” she said. “There were a lot of bumps in the road, but we overcame and worked together.”
Junior Peyton Mclaughlin was a part of the senior gift committee.

“I am very proud of our idea and execution and hope the seniors like it as much as we do,” she said. They oversaw coming up with an amazing parting gift for LRHS seniors’ last prom. They decided a complementary glass with memorable detail would be the best fit.

The lobby committee created the entrance props. The committee’s favorite prop was the arches above the red carpet. One of their biggest issues was the photo booth. Ashley Cole said, “We had to improvise a photo booth, it looks great and is a self-manned station.” They had spent their time making a wonderful night of fun.

Committee officer Ben Reichbach said, “I am really proud of my committee for working really hard. There were demands that we had to work through and the result looks amazing, I’m happy I had such dedicated people to work with.”

JAB gave up a lot of their time in and out of school to make it an unforgettable night for LRHS juniors and seniors.

Julia Gennocro, JAB’s public relations officer said, “Although prom planning has been stressful, I know all of our hard work will pay off. I am proud of the work we have done, and I cannot wait for everyone to have a great night.”

Meanwhile, JAB adviser and LRHS math teacher Tana Phelps reminds students that prom tickets are not transferable. Any students who feel they must trade tickets must see her after school Thursday in room 567.

The school administration would like to remind all students that prom dress code will be enforced.
