Sustainability Poster Contest Winner Announced

An SCF student has won a poster contest sponsored by Transition Venice, a grassroots organization concerned with sustainability.

A State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) student has won a poster contest sponsored by Transition Venice, a grassroots organization concerned with sustainability and making Venice more self-reliant when it comes to food, energy and commerce.

Genavie Cueman will receive $100 for her entry in the Picture Sustainability Poster contest for the 2016-2017 season. Cueman, whose poster was one of 31 entries, said her goal was to inspire people to want to keep the planet healthy.

“I was motivated by the idea that our individual choices can potentially impact each other on a global level,” Cueman said.

“This was a fantastic group of images from some of our area community college students,” said Abby Gage SCF's sustainability instructor. “I want to thank Katrina Grey and Sherri Hill the two SCF instructors who asked their classes to participate in the contest. It is nice to see this contest grow and reach more people with these important ideas about the future.”

SCF students designed all the posters. Transition Venice hopes to expand the contest next year by opening it to others, including students at the Ringling College of Art and Design.
