No Students Injured After School Bus Hit By SUV: FL Highway Patrol

There were no injuries after a school bus with 34 students onboard was hit by an SUV Monday morning in Bradenton, FL Highway Patrol said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — There were no injuries after a school bus with 34 students onboard was hit by an SUV that ran a red light Monday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.

The school bus was in the left turning lane of 63rd Avenue E., approaching the 9th Street E. intersection, with a green left turn arrow at the time of the crash, just before 8 a.m., FHP said.

At the same time, the SUV, driven by a 38-year-old Bradenton man, was heading west on 63rd Avenue E. in the inside lane, approaching the intersection as the traffic light turned red.

The SUV drove through the red light, hitting the front of the bus, which was making a left turn, the agency said.

Neither the SUV’s driver nor the school bus driver — a 64-year-old Bradenton woman — were injured in the crash. The students on the bus were uninjured, as well, FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
