Teen Charged In Shooting Death Of 16-Year-Old: Manatee County Sheriff

A 15-year-old faces murder charges after shooting and killing another teen in Bradenton, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.

BRADENTON, FL — A 15-year-old was charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy in Bradenton, authorities said.

While MCSO released the suspect's name, it is Patch's policy not to identify those in the juvenile court system. The shooter turned himself in after learning a juvenile pick-up order was issued for his arrest and he was booked into the Manatee Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

Deputies responded to a shooting at Garden Walk Condos, 5310 26th Street W., Friday just after 6 p.m.

During their investigation, they learned that the teen suspect, who lives in the complex, got into a parked car occupied by several other males, including the victim.

After getting out of the car, the 15-year-old shot at it as it drove out of the complex, hitting the victim, who was brought to Manatee Memorial Hospital by his friends. The 16-year-old was later pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said.

The shooter didn’t tell investigators why he shot at the car.

The victim’s name hasn’t been released and is protected under Marsy’s Law, according to MCSO.
