Teen Dies After Boat, Jet Ski Crash Near Manatee River: Reports

A 14-year-old boy was killed after a collision between a boat and a jet ski Saturday near the Manatee River, reports said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A 14-year-old boy was killed after the boat he was on and a jet ski crashed into each other Saturday near the Manatee River, according to multiple reports.

His 17-year-old brother was also injured in the crash and medically evacuated from the water, WFLA reported.

A 45-year-old Palmetto resident was operating the jet ski involved in the crash, according to Fox 13.Their condition is unknown, reports said.

The crash happened on a creek south of the river near Upper Manatee River Road and 133rd Street NE, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office told ABC7.

"The FWC would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends affected by this tragedy," the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission said in a statement to WTSP. "We would also like to express our gratitude to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, first responders, and medical personnel for their swift response and ongoing assistance."
