Teen Fired Gun Outside Movie Theater In Bradenton: Manatee Sheriff
A 16-year-old faces charges after firing a gun outside the AMC Bradenton 20 movie theater last month, Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.
BRADENTON, FL — A 16-year-old boy faces charges for firing a gun outside the AMC Bradenton 20 movie theater last month, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Deputies responded to a fight at the theater on Aug. 27 just before 7:30 p.m. and heard rumors of shots being fired inside the theater.
They determined that the gunfire happened in the theater parking lot and told moviegoers that reports of an active shooter situation were unfounded, the sheriff’s office said.

There were no injuries in the shooting.
Investigators developed the 16-year-old as the shooting suspect. He turned himself in to deputies on Sept. 5 and was charged with unlicensed carry of a firearm and discharging a firearm in a public place.

While deputies released the suspect's name, it is Patch's policy not to identify those in the juvenile court system. The sheriff’s office hasn’t said whether the suspect is being charged as an adult or juvenile.
