Two Drivers Critically Injured In Head-On Crash On State Road 70: FL Troopers

Three girls also suffered minor injuries in the State Road 70 crash in Manatee County, FL troopers said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Two drivers were critically injured Sunday afternoon when two cars collided on State Road 70 in Manatee County, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. west of Mobley Pond Lane.

A 2010 Honda Accord traveling west on SR-70 entered the eastbound lane while negotiating a curve and collided head-on with a 2021 Honda Accord traveling east on the highway, FHP said.

Both drivers, 42-year-old men from Archer and Boynton Beach, respectively, suffered critical injuries and were taken to area hospitals.

The Boynton Beach driver's three passengers — girls ages 10, 15 and 7 — suffered minor injuries and also were brought to an area hospital. Troopers said that the driver was wearing a seat belt.

Both cars came to rest in a grass ditch following the collision.
