Two live shows at Ace's Lounge this Friday

More live music at Jamrock's and inexpensive beers at a few of the local dives.

We’re one week away from the return of Get Down Downtown on Bradenton’s historic Old Main Street. In the meantime, check out what else is going on this weekend in Bradenton:

  • , 5722 14th St. W., celebrates happy hour Monday through Friday from 9 a.m to 11 a.m., 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and then late at night with $3.75 double shots and $2.35 domestics.
  • , 4343 Palma Sola Blvd., welcomes two bands Friday night: 3rd Stone Band and the Funky Seeds. According to their website, 3rd Stone Band “blends rock, funk, hip-hop, reggae and West African rhythms” for a unique sound. Their second studio album will be released Spring 2011. The Funky Seeds began outside of St. Petersburg in 2009 and blends several different genres into what they call “plant-driven funk.” The show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door.   • Saturday nights are a blast at , 5108 15th St. E. #402, when popular karaoke jockey Faye Johnson goes on at 9 p.m. Get there early for happy hour specials from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. when all drinks are a quarter cheaper. Or get there really early from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for the first round of happy hour. No cover.
  • Two sets of live music Saturday night at , 5917 Manatee Ave. W., starting with reggae from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and finishing out the evening with Madcow Sound from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
  • If you’re looking for a place to down a few inexpensive drafts on a Sunday afternoon, check out , 512 Manatee Ave. W. It’s open Sunday from 10 a.m. until midnight Sunday. The lounge is cash only, but there is an ATM inside. Budweiser, Bud Light, AmberBock are $1.25 Natty Light is only a buck.
