(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)— Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) juniors Faith and Sophia Finnegan have an opportunity to raise money for blood cancer research with Blood Cancer United.
Blood Cancer United is an organization whose goal is to raise money to fund blood cancer research across the United States. Their goal this year is advocacy, meaning they are trying to inspire cancer patients and their families to remind them that there is always someone fighting for them.

The Finnegans were introduced to the organization by a friend at LRHS. They heard of the cause and thought it would be an amazing opportunity to pursue their interests in leadership while also helping find a cure for blood cancer.
The Finnegans have an opportunity to partner with Blood Cancer United to participate in this year's Student Visionaries of the Year campaign.

Student Visionaries of the Year is a seven-week-long competition involving teams of high school students across the nation to see which team can raise the most funds for blood cancer research.
Teams will be reaching out to companies and individuals to raise money over this period. They are trying to reach a goal of $15,000 Jan. 16 - Mar. 6.
The Finnegans have multiple ways anyone can donate to support their cause, including -
- making a tax-deductible donation to their online fundraising page
- spreading their message & fundraising link with your contacts via email or social media, helping them secure a corporate sponsorship (Sponsorships start at $10,000, and sponsors receive exclusive Grand Finale benefits)
- Purchasing an Ad Space in the Grand Finale Celebration program book (ad space starts at $1,500 and includes tickets to Grand Finale).
Faith really enjoys the opportunities she has had participating in this competition.
“I think it’s a really good volunteer and leadership opportunity to connect with like-minded high schoolers,” said Faith.
