Unique Manatee Business Featured On ABC's World News Now
News program spotlights People At Play, which allows regular folks to 'play in the sandbox' on construction equipment.
, a Manatee County company that lets regular folks live out their sandbox fantasies by playing around on construction equipment, was recently featured on ABC's World News Now.
The business was highlighted in a feature that aired nationally this week on the early morning news program. It had caught the attention of a Florida-based reporter whose aunt had come in to operate some heavy machinery at People At Play's undeveloped construction site along U.S. 301 in southern Manatee.
Co-owner Alisa Bennett, who started the business with her husband Jason, a construction veteran, in December 2010 when regular business had slowed down, said the spot has already garnered them some national notice.

"We had three or four new Facebook fans, one from St. Petersburg, Russia; one from San Diego, California," Bennett said Wednesday. "I'm pretty sure there was a nice pop there from the attention."
Bennett said the word is beginning to spread about her unique business, spotlighted earlier this month in a .

"We've definitely got a lot of interest," Bennett said. "We're very excited about the coverage."
