Unknown Amount Of Sewage Discharged Into Manatee River: Organization
The Suncoast Waterkeeper issued a "no-swim advisory" Thursday as sewage continues to be discharged in the Manatee River.
BRADENTON, FL โ Raw and partially treated sewage is being intentionally discharged into the Manatee River at Bradentonโs water reclamation facility, Suncoast Waterkeeperwrote Thursday in a Facebook post.
The organization is dedicated to the protection and restoration of the Florida Suncoastโs waterways.
While the city hasnโt disclosed the total amount of the discharge, so far, the bypass is โgreater than 1,000โ gallons, according to a report the city filed with the state on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, the city discharged about 25 gallons of wastewater into the riverduring and after then-Tropical Storm Debbyโs brush with Floridaโs west coast, the Anna Maria Island Sun reported.
Water samples are being taken from the river, the report said.

DeSoto Memorial Park, which is on the river, will be added to the Suncoast Waterkeeperโs weekly water quality testing sites, the organization wrote in its post.
In the meantime, the organization has issued โa no-swim advisory until further noticeโ for the river.
