Weekend Of Live Music At Ace’s

, 4343 Palma Sola Blvd., is bringing the blues back to town this weekend with two live acts Friday and Saturday night.

Playing at 9 p.m. Friday is Harper & Midwest Kind. The band is fronted by singer/songwriter “Harper” who uses a harp and a didgeridoo, a wind instrument developed by Australian aborigines 1,500 years ago, to complement his Michigan-based band, Midwest Kind, to create an interesting blend of blues, rock, funk, soul and world music.

On Saturday, blues guitarist Albert Castiglia takes the stage at 9 p.m. Castiglia, born in New York and raised in Miami, toured with the late, great blues singer/harmonica player Junior Wells and later Atlanta blues singer Sandra Hall. He’s also played with the likes of Pinetop Perkins, Ronnie Earl, Billy Boy Arnold, Lurrie Bell, Jerry Portnoy, Eddy Clearwater and Otis Clay. New Times magazine voted him Best Blues Guitarist in 1997.

RJ Howson Band plays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday (no cover). Enjoy Chef Ron’s all-you-can-eat Italian buffet and NasCrab on the tiki deck.
