Woman Dies After Truck Crash, Medical Episode: Florida Highway Patrol

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A Palmetto woman died after crashing a pick-up truck Saturday night in Manatee County following a possible medical episode, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The 61-year-old was heading west on 301 Boulevard East approaching the U.S. 41 intersection around 9 p.m. when she veered to the right for unknown reasons, traveling onto the north grass shoulder of the road.

The truck drove into a ditch to the north of 301 Boulevard East and hit a culvert, FHP said.

She was brought to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Her passenger, an 11-year-old Palmetto girl, was uninjured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
