Brandon Seafood Festival To Feature Paddle Of The Super Heroes

BRANDON, FL — More than 4o paddle board enthusiasts will take to Chapman Lake at Rotary's Camp Florida in Brandon Saturday to raise money and awareness for local charities during the 28th annual Brandon Seafood Festivalat Rotary's Camp Florida.

The festival will take place Saturday, Nov. 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the camp at 1915 Camp Florida Road.

In addition to an all-you-can-eat seafood feast prepared on site by members of the Brandon '86 Rotary Club, the event will feature live music, a beer tent, games, a pie-eating contest and bounce house.

For the first time, the seafood festival will also host the Paddle of the Super Heroes. Four nonprofit groups will participate: Removing the Barriers Initiative, an effort to remove barriers for people with disabilities; StirringWaters, Florida's first water park for people of all abilities; Compass Retreat, a retreat for veterans and their families; and Rotary’s Camp Florida, a Rotary Club-owned camp that provides free camping events for children with disabilities, chronic illnesses, coping with grief and other special needs. Each group will have 10 caped crusading paddlers on the lake attempting to raise $5,000 for their charity.

Seafood festival tickets, available at the festival, are $30. Kids under 12 years old are free with a paid adult and a donation of one can of food.
