Couple Hurt as Van, Airstream Overturn on I-75

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – A couple from Cincinnati, Oh., both 69, were injured today when their vehicle and trailer went off Interstate-75 and overturned south of SR-60 in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The male driver with minor injuries and the female passenger with serious injuries were transported to Tampa General Hospital, troopers said.

The pair were heading north in a center lane on I-75 in a Dodge Sprinter van and towing an Airstream trailer at about 3:30 p.m. when traffic ahead slowed and the driver steered left to avoid a collision, the FHP said.

The van rotated into the center median, collided with the guardrail and overturned.
