Federal Charges for George Zimmerman Unlikely
The U.S. Department of Justice has opted against pursuing civil rights charges in the death of Trayvon Martin.

George Zimmerman isn’t likely to face federal civil rights charges in the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
News of the U.S. Department of Justice’s impending decision broke Wednesday, according to WESH.com. That agency has been exploring the possibility of bringing Florida’s Zimmerman up on federal civil rights charges for the past two years.
Zimmerman is the neighborhood watch captain charged in 17-year-old Martin’s death. While Zimmerman was acquitted on second-degree murder charges in 2013, the federal agency has been investigating the controversial case for the last two years, The Washington Post reported.

While the Justice Department’s case is still technically open, the Post says, it will likely be closed soon since there isn’t enough evidence to pursue the charges.
Zimmerman has received much notoriety since his acquittal. The 30-year-old was recently implicated in a road rage incident and has also had brushes with the law related to domestic issues and traffic violations since the acquittal.

Most recently, George’s older brother, Robert Zimmerman Jr., said he would like to see the Zimmerman image – especially George’s – rebranded, Bay New 9 reported.
He’s floated ideas, such as launching a family business that sells security-related products, but his ‘ultimate goal” would be a reality TV show starring George that falls somewhere in between John Walsh from “America’s Most Wanted Fame” and the Kardashians. So far, there haven’t been any takers on the TV idea.
