Fundraiser For Orlando Shooting Victims Tops $3 Million
The goal for Equality Florida's campaign to help victims has been raised to $5 million.

More than $3 million has poured into Equality Florida’s campaign to raise money for the victims of Sunday’s terror attack in Orlando.
Since the state’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization kicked off its fundraising effort in the hours after the mass shooting, more than 70,000 people from around the world have made donations, some as small as $10, others in the thousands.
GoFundMe also contributed to the campaign in a very big way.

“We would like to inform all supports that GoFundMe has contributed $100,000 towards this campaign, essentially waiving their transaction fee and ensuring every single penny donated will go towards supporting the victims and their families,” Equality Florida wrote on its fundraiser page.

The outpouring of help for the 49 people killed and 53 wounded when Omar Mateen, 29, opened fire in the crowed Pulse Orlando Night Club & Ultra Lounge has been overwhelming, Equality Florida officials say. Early Tuesday morning, the campaign had raised $2.8 million. By 9:30 a.m., it was over $3 million with a new goal of $5 million set.
“Your support demonstrates the incredible good in this world,” the page reads.
Money raised through the campaign will distributed to victim’s families through the National Center for Victims of Crime. That organization also helped families following the Chattanooga and Aurora shootings.
