Harry Potter's Hagrid Hospitalized in Orlando

Actor Robbie Coltrane was met at the airport by paramedics.

Harry Potter fans are going to have to do without their beloved Hargid at this weekend’s convention at the Universal Orlando Resort.

Actor Robbie Coltrane, 64, who portrayed Rubeus Hagrid, in the movie adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s famous series was reportedly swept away from an Orlando airport by paramedics Thursday. Coltrane became sick during a British Airways flight from London to Orlando, TMZ reported.

Coltrane was suffering from severe flu-like symptoms, Fox News reported. Hospital officials intended to keep him overnight. It is unclear if he has yet been released.

Coltrane and Gambon were both scheduled to appear at Universal’s “A Celebration of Harry Potter,” which runs through Feb. 1. The theme park has dedicated a sizeable chunk of land to recreating the wizarding world found in the Potter series.

Coltrane’s appearance at the celebration appears to have been officially canceled as a result of his illness.

“Robbie took ill last night and is getting the rest he needs to feel better,” Universal officials were quoted by the Orlando Sentinel as saying. “We are sorry he can’t be with us this weekend and look forward to seeing him up and about soon.”
