Machete Wielding Man Attacked Dog, Owner, Deputies Say
Both victims are expected to recover, but their accused attacker now faces criminal charges.
A 57-year-old Gibsonton man is in hot water after Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies say he attacked a man and his dog with a machete.
The incident occurred Sunday evening, but the sheriff’s office announced the arrest of Wilson Dorman Wednesday afternoon.
According to the agency, Edwin H. Stoner Jr., 22, was out walking his pit bull mix near the intersection of Richardson Street and Nundy Avenue Sunday evening when he encountered Dorman. Deputies say the two men got into a verbal dispute that ended with Stoner going on his way with his dog and Dorman returning to his home.

It seems Dorman wasn’t quite finished with the dispute, an email from the sheriff’s office indicated. He’s accused of going home, arming himself with a machete and returning to the street to find Stoner and his dog.
“Dorman then attacked both Stoner and his dog with the machete,” the email said.

Stoner received non-life-threatening cuts to his ear and neck. The dog suffered a deep laceration on its left side. Deputies estimated the cut was about 6 inches long. Another cut, about 3 inches in length, was found on the dog’s back.
Stoner, the email said, was able to call for medical help. The dog is expected to survive, deputies noted.
Deputies found Dorman at his home and brought him into custody. Dorman was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail on aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and animal cruelty charges. He was later released in lieu of $9,500 bond, jail records indicate.
Deputies have not said what the dispute was about.
