Mother Of Abused 4-Year-Old Girl Also Under Arrest

The 28-year-old mother of the 4-year-old Seffner girl brought to the hospital with signs of injuries all over her body has been arrested.

BRANDON, FL -- The 28-year-old mother of the 4-year-old Seffner girl brought to the hospital over the weekend with injuries all over her body has now been arrested.

Amber Jones has been charged with felony child neglect with great bodily harm and failure to report child abuse.

Jones and her live-in boyfriend, Allen Michael Stanford, 28, brought the child to Brandon Regional Hospital's emergency room over the weekend to be treated for injuries they said were self-inflicted (see related story).

But emergency room doctors found "significant and visible injuries to her entire body" that were consistent with child abuse over a period of time.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies arrested Stanford at Brandon Regional Hospital on Jan. 14, charging him with three counts of child abuse with great bodily harm and one count of child neglect with great bodily harm.

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, deputies also arrested the child's mother.

Child Protective Services has taken the little girl into protective custody.
