Watch: Adorable ‘Nae Nae’ Dance-Off Between Kids, Cop
The Florida police officer was out on patrol when she ran into a group of kids and their parents. What happened next is priceless.
Sanford, FL — Sometimes you’ve just got to dance the “Nae Nae.”
At least that seems to have been the case for Sanford Police Officer Inoa Tuesday night. Inoa was out on patrol with her partner Officer Hernandez Tuesday when the pair ran into a group of children and their parents at Seminole Gardens Apartments.
With music in the air, it seems Inoa was inspired to get out of her cruiser and bust a move or two.

“Officer Inoa challenged the children to a dance off, and they were eager to meet the challenge,” the agency wrote on Facebook. “After ‘the whip’ and a little ‘running man,’ it was impossible to determine whether or not there was a winner.”

Based upon the smiles and infectious giggles quite evident on the video of the dance off, it’s probably fair to say everyone involved won. As the police department pointed out, #BetterTogether, #WeAreSanford.
The impromptu July 12 dance-off came on the heels of racial unrest across the country following the recent officer-involved deaths of two black motorists in Minnesota and Louisiana.
On July 7, a lone gunman, Micha Xavier Johnson, opened fire on a group of people in Dallas, killing five police officers, wounding seven others and also leaving two civilians injured. The shooting took place during a peaceful rally meant to protest police brutality. The officers killed were Brent Thompson, Lorne Ahrens, Patrick Zamarripa, Michael J. Smith and Michael Krol. Their stories can be read here.
Sanford’s dance-off hasn’t been the only impromptu act meant to show unity between communities and local police since the Dallas tragedy.
In the Tampa Bay area, a number of law enforcement agencies have taken to social media to thank residents for gifts of flowers, food and cards. Clearwater Police even received “thank-you” pizzas last week, complete with handwritten notes inside the boxes.
