The Carrollwood Cultural Center announced dates for its monthly jazz program, Jazz with Jim. Host Jim Burge and The Jazz Directions will perform at the Center, located at 4537 Lowell Road in Tampa, June 22, July 27 and August 24. All concerts will be at 7:30pm and tickets range from $8 to $14 per person.
Jazz with Jim is best known for fusing personal stories with popular jazz tunes suited for that month's theme. In addition to the personal stories, patrons can purchase home baked goods donated by the Center's volunteers, which help complete the intimate ambience.
Each month, the band will welcome a new guest musician. Previous guests include Patricia Dean and the horn section of the Jazz Cellar Underground Orchestra.
On June 22, Burge and The Jazz Directions will welcome special guests Jordan Sanders Hawkins and Cole Hazlitt. Hawkins is a Braden River High School student where he plays first tenor sax in the advanced jazz band. Hazlitt is enrolled in the music program at Tarpon Springs High School and plays vibes (vibraphone) and drums with the Ruth Eckerd Youth Jazz Band.
