Apply to Pinellas County Schools Choice Programs

Does your child aspire to be a teacher, scientist, engineer or ballerina? PCS gives families a choice to suit their children's interests.

Families can now apply to 70 choice programs offered by Pinellas County Schools based on their children’s interests, talents and abilities. The first application period, which runs through Jan. 16, gives families an opportunity to select five possible choice programs for their children. However, families can only accept one program invitation for each child.

For the 2015-16 school year, families can select from several new choice programs. New international studies programs at Mildred Helms Elementary and Largo Middle School in Largo, as well as John Hopkins Middle School in St. Petersburg are offered. Also in St. Pete, families can apply to the new Center for Innovation and Digital Learning at Tyrone Middle School and a new model school for personalized learning for students in grades 6-12 called Lealman Innovation Academy.

Parents in need of assistance with the application process have several options, including the opportunity to attend Application Assistance Nights during the application period for personal guidance. If you require additional assistance, you can:

  • Reference the application process featured in the District Application Programs Guide or visit www.pcsb.org/choice.
  • Contact Student Assignment for assistance over the phone at 727.588.6210.
  • Attend one of three Application Assistance Nights during the application period:

o Thursday, Jan 8, 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. – Sandy Lane Elementary School, 1360 Sandy Lane, Clearwater
o Tuesday, Jan. 13, 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. – Gibbs High School, 850 34th St S, St Petersburg
o Thursday, Jan. 15, 4:30-7:30 p.m. – The district’s Student Assignment Office, 301 4th St. SW, Largo

Once the Application Period is over, parents need to log back in during the Acceptance Period, Feb. 4-11, 2015 to accept a program. Visit www.pcsb.org/choice for program application details.
