Casey Anthony Launches Photography Business

The Florida woman was acquitted in 2011 in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL — After spending years in front of a camera during a highly publicized trial in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, it seems Casey Anthony wants to be on the other side of the lens.

The 29-year-old has filed papers with the Florida Department of State to launch her own photography business. Case Photography LLC operates with a West Palm Beach address, according to state records. News of Anthony’s business venture broke this week, but records indicate she’s been laying the groundwork for the venture since late last year.

Anthony has been an elusive figure since her 2011 acquittal Caylee’s death. Last year, the controversial figure was reportedly in talks with NBC about a possible TV deal.

Private investigator Pat McKenna has been helping Anthony get back on her feet. He’s been quoted by many as saying Anthony, whose defense he worked on, has been vilified in the media since the acquittal. McKenna told WPBF Anthony has a bit of talent with the camera and already has some paying clients.

Anthony launched a Facebook page for the new venture, but it has been taken down.

Anthony was 25 at the time she stood trial her daughter’s death. The child was reported missing in the Orange County area, sparking a well-publicized search that ultimately ended with the discovery of the toddler’s body in 2008.

Investigators charged Anthony with first-degree murder, manslaughter and aggravated child abuse in Caylee’s death. She was, however, acquitted on the more serious charges but convicted for providing false information to law enforcement. The jury seated in the case was selected in Pinellas County and was transported to Orange County to hear the evidence. Judge Belvin Perry Jr. drew the jury pool from the Tampa Bay area county because of concern the Orlando area would produce a tainted selection, a previous Patch story noted.

Anthony’s acquittal sparked outrage across the country and many in the Tampa Bay area took part in the Porch Lights on for Caylee Marie Anthony campaign launched on Facebook in the days immediately following the jury’s July 5, 2011, verdict.
