Clearwater Man Seriously Injured in Bike Wreck
The crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on Northeast Coachman Road.

A 40-year-old Clearwater man is in serious condition after authorities say his bicycle collided with an oncoming car.
The incident happened around 12:09 p.m. Tuesday on Northeast Coachman Road. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Toyota Camry driven by Christopher McBride, 24, of St. Petersburg was heading west on Coachman as a bike ridden by John Matzke was traveling in the same direction, just ahead of the Camry.
When McBride attempted to travel through the intersection at Old Coachman Road, Matzke tried to turn left. His bike went into the path of McBride’s car. The vehicle struck the left side of the bike. The impact, a highway patrol report said, caused the cyclist to be thrown onto the car’s hood and windshield.
