Clearwater Police Investigate Shooting; 1 Man Dead, 2 Arrested

CLEARWATER, FL -- Clearwater Police have arrested two people in the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man at 1109 Blanche B. Littlejohn Trail.

At 6:34 p.m., Friday, April 13, a resident near the 1100 block of Blanche B. Littlejohn Trail heard what sounded like a gunshot and went outside to investigate. She discovered a 22-year-old male who had been shot at least once. She called police and paramedics.

Officers quickly arrived on the scene and began CPR until the Clearwater Fire Department arrived and took over.

The man, Wayne M. Hamm III, was pronounced deceased at Morton Plant Hospital.

A vehicle matching one at the scene was stopped by officers several blocks away shortly after the shooting occurred. Jamel James Hodges, 16, and Rafael Mercado Garcia, 20, both of Largo, were charged with murder.
