Clearwater Police Say Reckless Motorcyclist Endangered People

Clearwater Police arrested a motorcyclist early this morning on multiple charges after he fled a traffic stop and drove recklessly.

CLEARWATER, FL -- Clearwater Police arrested a motorcyclist early this morning on multiple charges after he fled a traffic stop and drove recklessly near the beach roundabout.

Corey Castles, 19, faces charges of fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail, where he is still being held Friday morning, Aug. 10.

At about 12:30 a.m., an officer saw two dirt bike motorcycles speeding westbound on Memorial Causeway. Neither had lights or a license plates. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, both fled and split up.

Castles, on a 2003 Yamaha off-road motorcycle, reportedly drove recklessly the wrong way in the roundabout. He then drove on the sidewalk multiple times, endangering the lives of pedestrians in the area. He was taken into custody near Pier 60.

Castles has been stopped on two other occasions for driving with no driver's license. Another time, he was driving on a suspended or revoked license. In addition, he has \prior charges of fleeing and eluding, leaving the scene of a crash and twice driving without a tag.
