Coast Guard Rescues Man Injured By Boat Propeller In Sand Key

SAND KEY, FL — The Coast Guard rescued a 48-year-old man with a leg injury from One Tree Island near Sand Key, Saturday.

At 3:50 p.m., the Coast Guard was notified that a man suffered a leg injury from a boat propeller. A crew member on the recreational boat, Island Hopper, attended to the man's injury and reported that he was in need of emergency assistance.

The Coast Guard evacuated the man to the Coast Guard Station Sand Key where emergency medical services were waiting. The man was then taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for treatment.
