Cops: Teen Swiped Car With Boy Inside
The Clearwater Police Department made an arrest in the case Wednesday.

A 16-year-old boy faces grand theft auto charges after Clearwater Police say he swiped a vehicle Monday night that had a sleeping child inside.
The teen was charged in the case Wednesday and was processed into the Juvenile Assessment Center, the department stated in an email to media. The boy told detectives he did not know about the sleeping 6-year-old when he took the car, the email stated.
The case in question occurred Monday night at 2045 Alpine Road. A woman called police to say her car had been stolen. The woman, Elizabeth Rivera, also told police about her son sleeping inside the white Ford Mustang convertible.

A hunt for the car and the child, Theron Field, was quickly launched. The boy and the car were both found about an hour later two miles away.
Rivera told police she left the boy in the car for two minutes while she entered an apartment to pick up another child.
