Driver Clocked At 129 MPH On U.S. 19 While Returning To Work From Lunch Break: Police

An 18-year-old man returning late to work after his lunch break was arrested for going 129 mph on U.S. 19, Clearwater police said.

CLEARWATER, FL — An 18-year-old man was recently arrested after being caught going 129 mph in a 55 mph zone on U.S. 19, Clearwater police wrote in a social media post.

Christopher Leonel Garcia-Caminos, who was late returning to work from his lunch break, told the officer who pulled him over that he thought he was only going 100 mph.

“Here's some advice for you: If a fast-food eatery seems to be slow filling your order and you're running late getting back to work on your break, don't speed,” police wrote.

Garcia-Camino was arrested and charged with dangerous excessive speeding. He was booked into Pinellas County Jail.

“No burger and fries is worth going to jail,” police said.
