DUI Wolfpack Set to Roam Pinellas
The Florida Highway Patrol is hitting to road this Memorial Day weekend to stop impaired drivers in their tracks.

Tampa Bay area motorists might want to think twice before tipping back one too many over the long Memorial Day weekend.
The Florida Highway Patrol has announced it will be out in force with a DUI Wolfpack Detail, focusing on state and local roads within Pinellas County. The operation begins at 7 p.m. Friday, May 22, and runs through 3 a.m. Saturday, May 23, according to Sgt. Steve Gaskins.
“FHP sets up such details to proactively remove impaired drivers from the roadways and ultimately enhance the safety of the motoring public,” Lt. Gregory S. Bueno wrote in an email to media about a similar detail planned in Sarasota and Manatee counties over the weekend. “Troopers conducting the detail will be mobile, monitoring traffic, in an effort to maximize their visibility and effectiveness in removing impaired drivers from the roadways.”

While the details only last a set time, law enforcement throughout the region will be on high alert as the Memorial Day weekend gets under way. Partygoers are urged to designate drivers and take other steps to prevent getting behind the wheel after consuming too much alcohol. For those in emergency pinch situations, AAA offers its Tow 2 Go program throughout the weekend.
In addition, motorists who spot impaired drivers are urged to contact FHP by calling *347 from their cellular phones.
