Saturday’s promotion marks the beginning of a larger effort at the Humane Society of Pinellas to teach people that “pit bull” dogs make wonderful pets, just like any other dog. “Pit Bull” is not a dog breed, but a descriptive name for a group of terriers with wide heads and stocky bodies. Millions of regular people own “pit bull” type dogs and count them as loving members of their family.
