Ferry Service Aims to Ease Clearwater Beach Congestion

The new service kicked off its trial run Monday.

Workers who punch their time cards at Clearwater Beach businesses and tourists visiting the area have a new way to avoid the traffic crunch courtesy of a ferry service that officially launched Monday.

Clearwater Ferry services run every hour on the hour from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., offering users a way to leave their cars on the mainland while still getting to their beach destinations. The boat runs a course that starts at Coachman Park and docks at Clearwater Beach Marina before heading back to the mainland.

General admission fares are $6 for adults and $2 for children through March, according to the service’s website. Regular day passes will rise to $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 4 to 12 in April. Clearwater Beach workers ride for $3 and can purchase annual passes, as well. The service does give Clearwater Beach employees priority boarding, as well.
