CLEARWATER, FL -- A Hillsborough County detention deputy trainee has been arrested after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

Clearwater Police arrested Kennorris L. Coleman, 25, and charged him with lewd or lascivious offenses committed upon or in the presence of persons less than 16 years of age.

Clearwater Police Department arrested Coleman Tuesday after an investigation revealed that he established an inappropriate sexual relationship with a minor. Shortly after, he was terminated by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

"There is no tolerance in this office for anyone who would prey against the most vulnerable and precious resource in our community: our children," said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Kennorris Coleman does not reflect or come close to upholding the values, honor or integrity of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and I ordered him terminated immediately."

Coleman began his employment with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office as a community service aide in July 2017. After graduating from the Detention Academy on March 8, he became a detention deputy trainee on a probationary status. He was participating in an eight-week-long training when he was fired.
