Injured Pelican ‘Fell From The Sky,' Unable To Fly: Clearwater Police
An injured pelican unable to fly was wrangled by an officer, picked up by volunteers with Birds in Helping Hands, Clearwater police said.

CLEARWATER, FL — A patrol officer helped an injured pelican found Wednesday on Clearwater Beach.
Construction workers near Fifth Street and Coronado Drive told the officer that they saw the bird “fall from the sky,” the Clearwater Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.
When the pelican couldn’t return to the sky, they called police and Officer Clark responded, wrangling the bird with her hands and putting it into the back of her car.

The bird was limping in addition to not being able to fly, Spagnola-Vickery said.
