Update: Jumper Leaps from Clearwater Hotel

Update Aug. 5, 6:41 p.m.: Clearwater Police spokesman Rob Shaw has confirmed that a 53-year-old woman committed suicide at the hotel. No other details are available at this time.

The Clearwater Police Department is investigating a death that occurred Tuesday after a person jumped from the Hyatt Regency hotel on Clearwater Beach.

Although details are still sketchy, police spokesman Rob Shaw wrote in an email to media that the person landed on the Coronado Drive side of the building and died as a result of the fall. The hotel is located at 301 S. Gulfview Blvd.
