Backed by the Church of Scientology, the project promises major investment and new attractions, but some residents worry about losing public rights‑of‑way and long‑term public access to the space.

Clearwater woman accused of hitting boyfriend with laptop during argument: CPD (fox13news.com) — Clearwater police arrested 57‑year‑old Christianne Stephens after they say she hit her boyfriend in the head with a laptop during an argument, knocking him unconscious and causing a serious cut. Investigators allege she then tried to block him from leaving and delete video evidence from his phone, leading to aggravated battery, false imprisonment, and evidence‑tampering charges.
   

3. Bay Area food banks: Demand surges as donations fall (fox13news.com) — Families in Clearwater are increasingly turning to Hope Villages of America for food, with Mayor Bruce Rector and Senator Nick DiCeglie urging residents to donate as shelves run low. Local food banks across the Bay Area report rising demand, fewer individual donations, and uncertainty over how new SNAP work requirements will affect the number of people needing help this holiday season.
   

4. Clearwater Man Arrested As Second Suspect In Florida Keys Resort Fraud Scheme (tampafp.com) — A Clearwater man has been arrested in the Florida Keys, accused of using an elderly resort guest's identity to rack up thousands of dollars in fraudulent charges at Cheeca Lodge & Spa in Islamorada. Monroe County deputies, working with resort security and Clearwater Police, say the case dates back more than a year and involves multiple affected guests and a previously arrested codefendant.
