1. Clearwater ranked 11th in Florida for scam reports in July (pinellastimes.com) — Clearwater logged 23 scam reports with the Better Business Bureau in July, ranking 11th among 237 Florida cities and more than doubling June's total. Locals reported over $3,100 in losses, mostly from phishing and a costly home-repair scam. Residents are urged to use BBB Scam Tracker and stay cautious about high-pressure repair offers and hard-to-trace businesses.
   

2. Yellowcard Announce Better Days Deluxe Edition With Travis Barker, Avril Lavigne and Good Charlotte, Share 'Calvary Drive' (rockumweb.com) — Yellowcard is releasing a digital-only deluxe edition of their Better Days album on September 18, featuring new track "Calvary Drive" and collaborations with Travis Barker, Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte, and Steve Aoki. Clearwater fans can see the band live very soon when they play the 97X Next Big Thing Legends show here on September 4, part of a busy tour supporting their successful comeback.
   

3. Florida man Steven Gress laughs in court while pleading guilty to torturing and dismembering 16-year-old Miranda Corsette (amedpost.com) — A gruesome Pinellas County murder case with deep local ties moved forward in Clearwater as 37-year-old Steven Gress pleaded guilty to kidnapping and first-degree murder in the death of 16-year-old Miranda Corsette. In a hearing at the Pinellas County Justice Center, a court psychologist found him competent, and Gress waived a jury for the penalty phase, where he could face life in prison or the death penalty.
   

4. Pinellas County commissioners explore local e-bike regulations (wusf.org) — Pinellas County officials are weighing new e-bike rules that would affect riders on popular trails and streets used by Clearwater residents, including possible lower speed limits, helmet and age requirements, and ID rules. A regional workgroup with Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Dunedin, law enforcement, and schools is focusing on cracking down on reckless riding and non-compliant high-powered devices after multiple recent fatalities.
