Prosecutors say the prior incident shows his knowledge of boating rules, while the defense argues it would unfairly sway the jury. A final ruling will come after more Williams Rule testimony later this month.

• Rough Surf, Dangerous Rips Prompt Warning At Clearwater Beach As Hurricane Isaias Threatens Florida (tampafp.com) — Rough surf and dangerous rip currents at Clearwater Beach are prompting police and fire crews to move lifeguard towers and strongly warn swimmers to stay out of the water as Hurricane Isaias nears Florida. Officials say conditions will worsen through the day and urge everyone to obey beach flags and avoid the surf. State leaders are also pushing for rapid federal aid ahead of landfall.
