Photo: Jumbo Bass Gobbles Snook
Researchers snapped the shot while looking into bass and snook habitats and diets.

When Florida researchers set out to learn more about how snook and largemouth bass habitats and diets overlap chances are they didn’t anticipate getting a first-hand look during mealtime.
But, that’s exactly what happened. Scientists from FWC’s Fish and Wildlife Research Institute even have the photo to prove it. That photo shows a largemouth bass gobbling down a snook.
“Bass 1, Snook 0,” the institute’s Facebook post of the unusual sight reads.

“During a study to evaluate habitat and diet overlap between largemouth bass and snook, our biologists found that the two species cohabitate well except when they try to eat each other,” the post continues. “There were plenty of snook that had eaten bass, but the first example of either was this bass which gave our freshwater fisheries researchers something to brag about.”
