Pinellas Expands Vaccine Eligibility To Teachers, Police Age 50

To date, more than 172,000 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Pinellas County.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Health care workers, teachers, firefighters and law enforcement officers age 50 and up can now register to receive the coronavirus vaccine through Pinellas County.

Eligible residents wishing to be vaccinated should go to the CRD Maguire Health & Medical patient portal or call 844-770-8548 to register and schedule a vaccine appointment. If there are no appointments available, eligible residents are encouraged to check the portal regularly for new available appointments.

Both first and second dose appointments can be scheduled online.

Those who are under 65 years old and are medically vulnerable can schedule appointments at participating Publix, Walgreens, CVS or Walmart pharmacies or a federal vaccination site with a doctor's certification. The medically vulnerable certification can be found here. A list of eligibility criteria is available on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.

Each pharmacy chain is offering their own appointment system. Check the pharmacy websites for availability.

The closest federal site is at the closed Tampa Greyhound racing track at 755 E. Waters Ave. in Tampa. It is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., administering 2,000 vaccines a day.

Health care workers age 50 and up who are eligible to receive vaccinations include physicians, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, phlebotomists, nurses, home health providers, home medical equipment providers, therapists, dental office staff, pharmacists and administrative/reception staff.

Shots are also available to all school employees age 50 and older.

The following documents will be accepted:

  • Organizational identification card
  • Medical license
  • Paystub showing employment
  • W-2 IRS form showing the employer
  • An employment verification letter on official letterhead

To date, more than 172,000 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Pinellas County and more than 50 percent of the senior population has received a vaccine.
