Rubio aid and outspoken Haley Fagan supporter Garrett Cantrell in critical condition after car crash early Saturday morning

CLEARWATER - Clearwater Police said a man (now identified as Garrett Cantrell) was injured in a crash on North Highland Ave early Saturday morning.

The accident happened around 4:30 AM in the northbound lane near the intersection of Union and Highland.

According to investigators, the injured driver Garrett Cantrell, 24, was struck driverside door by a car that had blown through a redlight. The driver who at this point is still unidentified suffered no injuries. Cantrell was brought to Morton Plant Mease in critical condition.

Garrett has appeared on Fox News, CNN and MSNBC and remains a Rubio advisor. Over the past several months while continuing to work with Rubio, he has spent considerable time defending Haley Fagan. Through social media as well as writing extremely pro Fagan articles.

A spokesman for Rubio stated they became aware of the crash after Cantrell missed a previously scheduled constituent visit around 9 AM this morning. A 4:30 PM response from Police believe he was hit at about 59 mph. Still remains in critical condition.

Police stated they are still currently investigating charges against the other driver.
