Police Arrest 17 Year-Old in Connection With Clearwater Shooting

Clearwater Police say an argument lead to Saturday morning's shooting.

Clearwater Police say they've arrested a teenager in connection with a shooting Saturday morning. 17 year-old Wesley Lee Townsend is charged with attempted 2nd degree murder and resisting arrest with violence.

Investigators say Townsend shot 19 year-old Johnny L. Hayes during an argument that happened around 10:49 Saturday morning near Myrtle Avenue and Blanche B. Littlejohn Trail.

Investigators say Townsend fired several rounds at Hayes with a semi-automatic handgun. Hayes was seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital.

Officers arrested Townsend at a home located at 603 Engman St. in Clearwater.
