Speeding Motorcyclist Killed In Clearwater Crash: FL Troopers

A speeding motorcyclist died after hitting an SUV while trying to pass it in Clearwater, FL troopers said.

CLEARWATER, FL — A speeding motorcyclist was killed in a Monday afternoon crash in Clearwater, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The 20-year-old Clearwater man on a Suzuki motorcycle passed several vehicles as he sped north on South Highland Avenue around 3:20 p.m.

Near Citrus Street, he overtook and hit a Nissan Rogue driven by a 61-year-old Clearwater woman, troopers said.

The motorcyclist was brought to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The SUV’s driver and her passenger, a 64-year-old Clearwater man, were brought to area hospitals with minor injuries, FHP said.
