• Miami-area hospital to get new kids' cancer center. How Palace founders are involved (miamiherald.com) — Families in Coral Gables may soon have closer access to advanced pediatric cancer care, as Nicklaus Children's is building a new Helen & Jacob Shaham Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute funded by a $15 million gift. The Shahams, whose Palace Group operates a luxury senior community in Coral Gables, hope their philanthropy keeps Florida children from needing to leave the state for treatment and strengthens South Florida's medical network.
