• Florida Friendly Landscaping (centralfloridalifestyle.com) — Dade City residents can attend a free Florida-Friendly Landscaping class at Hugh Embry Branch Library on Monday, Nov. 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. The monthly program, led by a University of Florida expert, covers water-wise plants, reduced fertilizer use, and other eco-friendly yard tips tailored to Florida’s climate. Adults can call the library for details and registration information.

• Sandbags available in Tampa Bay as Hurricane Isaias threatens coastal flooding (wfla.com) — Dade City residents can pick up self-serve sandbags at the old Dade City Police Department on Pasco Avenue and at Roosevelt Avenue and Canal Street as Hurricane Isaias brings heavy rain and possible flooding. Bags are provided, but you’ll need to bring your own shovel. Other Tampa Bay counties, including Pasco, Pinellas, and Hernando, are also opening sandbag locations for coastal and low-lying areas.
