Trump: ‘I'd love somebody to buy Spirit' (sun-sentinel.com) — Jobs at Dania Beach–based Spirit Airlines are in the spotlight as President Donald Trump says he’d “love somebody to buy” the bankrupt budget carrier and even suggests possible federal help. His comments come amid reports Spirit could face liquidation, putting about 14,000 positions at risk while federal transportation officials weigh industry pressures and potential tax relief for discount airlines.
   

2. USA Volleyball Goes Coast to Coast for the 2026 Men's Beach Collegiate Challenge Series (usavolleyball.org) — A major collegiate beach volleyball tournament is coming to Dania Beach this fall, as USA Volleyball’s 2026 East Coast Challenge heads to the Rita Crockett Beach Sports Academy September 25–27. Men’s college pairs from around the country will compete in a 32-team field, alongside a Beach NTDP training series, with registration now open for interested athletes.

Ladies, Let's Go Fishing South Florida Teaches Women Offshore Fishing Skills (southernboating.com) — Women anglers in our area may want to note that Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing is bringing a Freshwater Bass Seminar to Dania Beach on September 12, 2026. The group recently held a hands-on offshore skills weekend in Fort Lauderdale and continues to offer women-focused, confidence-building fishing programs across Florida and beyond throughout 2026.
   

4. Civil trial over fatal Tesla crash in Fort Lauderdale resolved during jury selection (local10.com) — A long-running civil case tied to a deadly 2018 Tesla crash in Fort Lauderdale quietly ended Monday when the families reached a confidential settlement during jury selection. Dania Beach figures in the story because the victim’s parents say a Tesla technician there removed a speed-limiting device from the car before the crash, though Tesla denied wrongdoing and a prior jury found the teen driver largely responsible.
