• Winter Haven elected officials give themselves a 30% raise for 2027 (theledger.com) — Winter Haven’s commission has approved a more than 30% salary increase for its mayor and commissioners starting October 1, 2027, after a close 3-2 vote. In making the case, one commissioner compared pay across Polk County, noting that nearby Dundee’s commissioners receive just $4,800 a year, far less than officials in larger cities.
