Learn how to grow dirt that feeds your garden. As water and plants pull nutrients out of your garden, your growing food depends on you to keep the dirt full of the good stuff. Attendees will learn how to take our Florida soil and turn it into dirt that will sustain an organic garden and grow thriving, happy plants. Understand how ingredients from your yard, kitchen and even the beach come together with hardworking micro organisms to provide cost efficient, environmentally kind nutritious dirt. Attendees will also be given the chance to win a kitchen composter or compost fencing.
Speaker Lynda Mink has been gardening in the South for decades. Currently the Garden Manager for Dunedin Community Garden, Lynda is also part of Whinot Garden?, here in Dunedin. Whinot?, started as an organic, edible, community garden in her front yard. In the third year, Whinot? has tripled in size. An active member of the community, Lynda has worked with the Dunedin Community Co-op, and the 1% Food Project. A sustainability enthusiast, she enjoys sharing her deep knowledge with others.
